“I’m incredibly grateful to have been part of the ESMO Course in Medical Oncology for Medical Students 2026 in Valencia.
Over the past few days, I learned far more than I expected. Beyond the latest concepts in medical oncology, the course challenged me to think more critically, approach clinical problems from different perspectives, and appreciate the evidence behind every treatment decision. The interactive workshops and case discussions made the experience especially valuable.
But what made this course truly memorable were the people.
Meeting medical students from all across Europe, exchanging ideas, discussing cases, and simply getting to know each other reminded me how exciting the future of medicine is. If there’s one thing I took home, it’s that our generation is full of passionate, curious, and hardworking people. I’m genuinely confident that GenZ has a bright future in oncology and medical science, and I’m proud to have met so many people who will help shape it.
A huge thank you to all the faculty for sharing not only their knowledge but also their experience and passion for oncology. Special thanks to Prof. Andres Cervantes and Dr. Rodrigo Sanchez Bayona for co-chairing the course and creating such an engaging learning environment.
And of course, thank you to ESMO – European Society for Medical Oncology for investing in medical students and giving us the opportunity to get involved in oncology so early in our careers. Experiences like this can truly shape future physicians.
This definitely won’t be my last post about the course. Soon, I am planning to have a special episode of OnCoffee, where we’ll share our experience, talk about what the course was really like, and hopefully answer some questions for medical students who are thinking about applying in the future.
