Vahe Grigoryan: Day 3 at the ESMO Course in Medical Oncology

Vahe Grigoryan, Assistant Managing Editor at OncoDaily Medical Journal, shared on LinkedIn:

Day 3 at the ESMO Course in Medical Oncology for Medical Students.

Today was all about colorectal, lung, and ovarian cancers, and it was another packed day with lectures, case discussions, and interactive workshops.

We kicked things off with colorectal cancer, where Dr. Erika Martinelli gave a really practical overview of diagnosis, staging, and treatment.

The afternoon was dedicated to lung cancer. Dr. Ana Ortega Franco covered early and locally advanced NSCLC, Dr. Rolf Stahel discussed advanced NSCLC, and Dr. Jonathan Lim walked us through SCLC. We then jumped into an interactive workshop, discussing different patient scenarios and treatment decisions. Definitely one of my favourite parts of the course so far.

We wrapped up the day with ovarian cancer, where Dr. Maria Kfoury covered diagnosis, staging, and treatment, followed by case discussions and a knowledge test to see how much we’ve actually been paying attention.

One thing I really appreciate about this course is that it never feels like you’re just sitting through lectures. The discussions, workshops, and the chance to ask questions directly to the people who are shaping oncology today make it a completely different experience.

Also… kind of crazy that tomorrow is already the final day. Time really flew.”
