Ummi Umar Musa: Honored to Join OncoDaily Medical Journal as Associate Editor

Ummi Umar Musa, Public Health and Oncology Specialist, Founder of Call Off Cancer Initiative and Uhealth Africa, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Still processing this – and deeply grateful.

I’m honoured to have been invited to join the OncoDaily Medical Journal as an Associate Editor, following the ‘How I Treat Cervical Cancer in 2026’ summit.

For me, this feels full-circle. Reading and writing shaped my worldview long before I stepped into oncology or public health. Books were my first teachers, and words were my first tools for advocacy. To now help shape scientific conversations in cancer care and control is something I hold with real humility.

This role connects closely with my ongoing work – from clinical practice in radiation oncology with a special interest in brachytherapy at National Hospital Abuja, to contributing to Nigeria’s National Taskforce on Cervical Cancer Elimination (NTF-CCE), active engagement with the International Papillomavirus Society – IPVS Nigerian Chapter, and my recent systematic review examining implementation gaps in scaling cervical cancer screening as part of my postgraduate studies at the University of Suffolk. Together, these experiences continue to reinforce how urgently evidence must translate into equitable systems of care.

I look forward to contributing to the journal’s work in cervical cancer, prevention, and equitable cancer systems – particularly from the perspective of low- and middle-income settings where implementation gaps still cost lives.

Grateful to the OncoDaily team for the trust, and excited to collaborate with the wider oncology community, including partners across platforms such as CancerWorld, to help strengthen evidence, dialogue, and impact in global cancer control.

Here’s to advancing knowledge that saves lives.”
