Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) shared on LinkedIn:
“Breast cancer remains the most diagnosed cancer among women worldwide and the leading cause of cancer-related deaths in women.
Yet too many women still face barriers to early detection, timely diagnosis, and quality treatment.
Since 2020, UICC’s Breast Cancer Programme has been working with organisations around the world to strengthen breast cancer control and improve access to care where it is needed most.
Over the past five years, programme-funded early detection projects in 18 countries have enabled 117,864 women to receive breast cancer examinations, trained 3,616 healthcare professionals, and reached more than 632,000 people through awareness and community outreach activities.
Beyond country projects, the programme has supported 50 breast cancer-focused Technical Fellowships, engaged 1,735 policymakers, and provided learning opportunities or mentoring to 254 organisations, including 27 patient groups.
Thank you to our partners for helping make the UICC Breast Cancer Programme possible.
Special thanks to Pfizer, Founding Partner of the Programme, alongside Daiichi Sankyo, the US National Cancer Institute Center for Global Health, Breast Health Global Initiative, Revolution Watches, UT MD Anderson, Novartis, AstraZeneca, Roche, Susan G.
