Karine Belondrade: Local Action at the Heart of Cervical Cancer Elimination

Karine Belondrade, Senior Partnerships Development Manager at Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Women really do rock!

A reminder that the heroes of cervical cancer elimination are often not those on the global stage. They are the women on the ground.

The palliative care providers who go from household to household and seize every opportunity to vaccinate girls. The advocates tackling misinformation in their communities. The NGO leaders finding creative ways to make prevention accessible and acceptable. The healthcare workers who keep showing up, despite limited resources and countless obstacles.

Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), one of our greatest privileges is supporting these changemakers through our global membership community, learning opportunities, grants and fellowships. Because lasting progress happens when local organisations are empowered to lead.

We already have the tools to eliminate cervical cancer. What we need is the political will to scale them and continued investment in the civil society organisations turning global ambition into reality.

Watch the inspiring stories.”
