Primary endpoints in randomized controlled trials for older adults with cancer: A scoping review
What outcomes are clinical trials really measuring in older adults with cancer?
This review of 66 randomized controlled trials found that survival-based endpoints still dominate. Patient-relevant outcomes such as quality of life, functional status, and treatment tolerance were included far less often and showed wide variability in how they were defined and measured.
The findings highlight an opportunity to better align trial design with outcomes that matter to older patients.
