Sarah Monesmith: Presenting Pediatric Oncology Research at SIOP 2025

Sarah Monesmith, MD Student at Indiana University School of Medicine, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Filled to the brim with gratitude to have been able to attend and present my research at this year’s International Society of Paediatric Oncology – SIOP with the incredible team at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.

I had the opportunity to give an oral presentation of our research on the Global Comfort Promise, a protocol we are helping to implement in low-middle income countries (LMICs) that lowers pain levels for children with cancer while they undergo needle-based procedures.

I also presented a poster on our research of the implementation of the Pediatric Oncology Tool for End-of-life Care Treatment (PrOTECT), a quality improvement tool we developed to impact pediatric palliative care practices in hospitals that treat pediatric cancer in LMICs.

I want to give a special thank you to Michael McNeil and Ximena Garcia-Quintero, MD, MSc for their encouragement and mentorship throughout this experience. I am so thankful for you both! I’m leaving Amsterdam feeling inspired by all the incredible leaders I met and the novel work being done in pediatric oncology that I had the chance to learn about.”
