Ron DePinho։ Exploring Telomere Dysfunction in Hematopoietic Differentiation and Myelodysplastic Syndrome

Ron DePinho, Professor of Department of Cancer Biology, Division of Discovery Science at MD Anderson Cancer Center, shared a post on LinkedIn:

Simona Colla is an extraordinarily talented scientist focused on MDS at UT MD Anderson.

I’d like to draw attention to her landmark study in Cancer Cell by Cell Press linked telomere dysfunction directly to aberrant hematopoietic differentiation and myelodysplastic syndrome. Her work provided genetic evidence that aging-associated telomere erosion can reshape progenitor fate, disrupt RNA splicing programs, and drive MDS-like disease.

These insights provided an important bridge between aging biology and hematologic malignancy.”
