“Honored to be invited to speak at the Union for International Cancer Control (UICC) World Cancer Congress 2026 in Hong Kong, at the ASCO – SIOG Joint Symposium on Geriatric Oncology.
It was a privilege to share the stage with Janice Tsang , Etienne BRAIN, Enrique Soto Perez de Celis , and his amazing mother Dr Maria Soto – a passionate patient advocate whose voice reminds us why we do this work. We were honored by the presence of ASCO President Prof Elizabeth Mittendorf in the audience too.
It was also wonderful to see a strong NCCS DMO contingent at this leading cancer event – Wu Meng Tan, Joanne Ngeow ( who is nominated for a board position at UICC), Kennedy Ng , our psychosocial oncology colleagues, and colleagues from Singapore Cancer Society .
Being present together at a global platform like this reflects our shared commitment to advancing cancer care.
Special thanks to Janice Tsang for her leadership in geriatric oncology and her warm hospitality. She arranged an engaging dinner talk at the HK Club where Etienne and I shared our experiences in geriatric oncology over many years of involvement in the field and with SIOG.
It was a meaningful opportunity to reflect on how far we’ve come – and how much more there is to do together.
