Peter Slavin: Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children’s Has Launched the First Neuro NICU in The Los Angeles

Peter Slavin, President and Chief Executive Officer of Cedars-Sinai Medical Center and Health System shared a post on LinkedIn:

Cedars-Sinai Guerin Children’s has launched the first Neuro Neonatal Intensive Care Unit in the Los Angeles region, bringing specialized care to newborns with complex neurological conditions during a critical period of early brain development.

The Neuro NICU brings together experts in neonatology, neurology, neurosurgery, neuroradiology and genomics, along with specially trained nurses and social workers who support families around the clock. Advanced tools such as continuous EEG monitoring and rapid whole-genome sequencing allow our teams to act quickly and tailor care to each baby’s needs.

The program also extends beyond our campus. Through specialized transport services and virtual consultations, our teams can guide care at referring hospitals across the region and help ensure that every newborn receives the right care at the right time.

My thanks to David Rowitch, MD, PhD, Ophir Klein, MD, PhD, Shervin Rabizadeh, MD, MBA, Rangasamy Ramanathan, MD, and the co-directors of the Neuro NICU, Yolanda Brown-Madan, MD, and Xin Ye, MD, along with the entire Guerin Children’s team whose vision and dedication are advancing care for our youngest and most vulnerable patients.”
