Peter MacCallum Cancer Centre shared on LinkedIn:
“Tonight, Peter Mac was proud to host the launch of What It Takes, the inspiring new memoir from Carlton Football Club legend Sam Docherty.
Sam’s story is about far more than what he achieved across 171 AFL games. It’s a story of resilience, courage and perspective, after facing and overcoming testicular cancer twice while continuing to lead, inspire and return to the game he loves.
Now a Board Member of the Peter MacCallum Cancer Foundation, Sam is making a lasting contribution off the field by improving outcomes for people affected by cancer by supporting the foundation’s work raising money for vital research.
One of the highlights of the evening was hearing Sam in conversation with his oncologist, Professor Ben Tran. Having stood beside Sam through two cancer diagnoses and witnessed his remarkable resilience firsthand, Professor Tran now had the pleasure of reflecting on that journey together – from patient and doctor to two people united by a shared commitment to improving the lives of others affected by cancer.
Thank you, Sam, for sharing your story so openly, and for everything you do to help create a better future for people with cancer.
Congratulations on the launch of What It Takes – get out and grab your copy now!”
