Ophira Ginsburg, Stategic Advisor of Global Cancer Research and Training Program at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Huge congrats to my dear friend and colleague Prof Nirmala Bhoo Pathy, University of Malaya and Dr. Melissa Lim, University Of Malaysia, Sarawak for an absolutely brilliant event! Of all the cancer research meetings I’ve attended in the past 20 years, for me, this was one of the most informative and useful.
The 2026 Asian Pacific Organization for Cancer Prevention (APOCP) conference in Kuching Malaysia will be remembered for some frank and important conversations around cancer equity, access, and economics, with meaningful engagement of people with living and lived experiences. Even palliative care had a proper place at this meeting. Often overlooked or relegated to the last session when people are already heading to the airport!
I have no doubt that many important discussions and collaborations will continue, as we work together for a better world. A world in which everyone, everywhere, has the power to access knowledge and make evidence-informed decisions to reduce their risks, as countries act to counter the commercial drivers of cancer risk, while investing in cancer data, research, prevention, diagnosis, and care – including survivorship care.
Hats off to everyone who participated in the organizing committee, faculty, and all participants!”‘
