Olubukola Ayodele: Finale Event of London Global Cancer Week 2025

Olubukola Ayodele, Breast Cancer Lead at University Hospitals of Leicester NHS Trust, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Yesterday’s Cancer Health Disparities: From Awareness to Action event has left me both exhausted and deeply grateful. It was the finale event of London Global Cancer Week. Bringing this global community together was a huge undertaking, but seeing the room filled with people committed to fairer cancer care made every moment worth it.

The turnout was incredible. Our speakers brought insight, honesty and practical wisdom. Our patients shared stories that moved so many of us to tears. There was a real sense of connection in the room, people weren’t just listening, they were ready to carry the message back into their own teams, clinics and communities.

I’m especially proud of the Vanessa Moss Prize abstract presenters. The standard was outstanding and the passion was evident. Our winner Dr Soumen Das travelled all the way from India to join us in person, which says a lot about the global relevance of this conversation and the drive to be part of meaningful change.

As the day progressed, you could feel the shift from awareness to intention. People left energised and equipped with ideas they could act on. That was the goal: not just to talk about disparities, but to inspire action across every level of cancer care.

A massive THANK YOU:

To everyone who attended.
To our speakers, for sharing your expertise with such clarity and generosity.
To those with lived experience, for trusting us with your stories. Your voices grounded the entire day.
To the steering committee for their guidance and support.

To ecancer for their support of the Vanessa Moss prize by publishing the top 10 abstracts and for being down in London to conduct interviews on the day.

To OncoDaily for their continued collaboration, support and amplifing our voices on social media

To our sponsors, Novartis, AstraZeneca, Eli Lilly and Company, Gilead Sciences UK & Ireland and Roche.

I’ll be sharing key messages from the day in subsequent posts but follow the ongoing conversations with #CHD2025 #LGCW2025

I’m already looking forward to next year’s event. There is so much more to DO!”
