Nikolaos Vassos, Head of the Department of Surgical Oncology – Sarcoma, Melanoma and Rare Tumors Center at Athens Medical Grοup, shared on LinkedIn:
“Innovation advances oncology. People transform it into patient care.
It was a privilege to participate in the panel ‘Sustaining the Oncology Workforce: Safeguarding System Resilience’at the 3rd Synergies Forum on Cancer, organised by the Hellenic Cancer Federation / ELLOK.
Oncology is advancing at an unprecedented pace through innovation, precision medicine and multidisciplinary care. Yet one fundamental challenge remains: who will deliver this increasingly complex care in the years ahead?
Building resilient cancer systems requires more than scientific breakthroughs. It requires sustained investment in the people who deliver cancer care every day.
Supporting, educating and retaining the oncology workforce is not simply a workforce strategy. It is an investment in better patient outcomes and the long-term sustainability of cancer care.
My sincere thanks to Hellenic Cancer Federation / ELLOK and George Kapetanakis for the invitation and for creating a forum where healthcare professionals, researchers, policymakers and patient advocates can work together towards shared solutions.
It was a privilege to share this discussion with Zacharoula Sidiropoulou, Ioannis Kotsianidis, George Maravelis, Eirini Throuvala, Paschalis Karadaglis and Angeliki Stefanaki, in a panel expertly moderated by John Yfantopoulos.
These conversations matter. Now is the time to translate dialogue into action.”
