Nazik Hammad: Privileged to Co-Chair the AORTIC SIG Session on Cancer in Africa at LGCW 2025

Nazik Hammad, Medical Oncologist and Professor at St. Michael’s Hospital, University of Toronto, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Today at LGCW, I was privileged to co-chair the AORTIC SIG session on cancer and conflict in Africa. Outstanding presentations.

Please watch out for the videos on the LGCW website. While the cancer care needs of African conflict-affected populations have been neglected at the global level compared to conflicts outside Africa, today’s session informed us of incredible stories of resilience, innovation in models of care, and an overwhelming desire to collaborate at a regional and continental level.

Our data shows that the African cancer workforce is eager to learn from each other and to work with each other to improve cancer outcomes for IDPs and refugees. Many thanks to all the speakers, to LGCW and to AORTIC Secretariat and to the AORTIC president, Dr Cesaltina.”
