“Pancreatic cancer if often detected too late, when treatment options are limited.
There is a critical need to detect it early. In this study, led by Yan Bi and Aleksander Bogdanski and our Mayo Clinic and Leiden University team, has identified subtle but detectable change in body fat and other metabolic factors that are detectable years before a clinical diagnosis of pancreatic cancer.
This complements similar work by Ajit Goenka who has developed similar detection tools directly in the pancreas. Together we have increasingly capable options to shift the survival of pancreas cancer and offer hope to prevent and detect early curable pancreas cancer.
