Michael Sapienza: Colorectal Cancer Alliance Experts Spotlight Screening and Biomarkers in Colorectal Cancer Podcast

Michael Sapienza, Chief Executive Officer of the Colorectal Cancer Alliance, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“I’m proud to share that Colorectal Cancer Alliance experts Marianne Pearson, Vice President of Patient Care, and Lindsey Glaspell, Clinical Nurse Navigator were featured in a recent episode of Genetics for Healthcare Podcast with host Rome Madison.

The candid discussion covered important topics including colorectal cancer screening, biomarkers, Alliance support and Project Cure CRC’s work to end the disease:

Marianne spoke about the importance of knowing your family history and normalizing conversations about digestive health, topics that too often remain stigmatized or avoided. She also shares how her own advocacy and awareness work with the Alliance ultimately helped save her own life.

Lindsey brings clinical expertise to the discussion, explaining how to prepare for a colonoscopy, and why biomarker testing is becoming an essential part of colorectal cancer care. Tumor biomarker analysis and genetic testing for hereditary syndromes like Lynch syndrome are guiding treatment decisions while also identifying family members who may be at higher risk.

The conversation emphasized that, with deaths rising in younger adults, the future of care is in more funding, research and personalized treatments, which is the aim of Project Cure CRC.

I am grateful to Marianne and Lindsey for bringing their expertise to this important discussion, and to the Genetics for Healthcare team for creating space for conversations that can truly save lives.
