Michael McNeil, Director of the St. Jude Global Palliative Care Program, shared on LinkedIn:
“This week as I train for the St. Jude Half Marathon, I am highlighting another of my colleagues I work with at St. Jude Global.
Paola M. Friedrich is a pediatric oncologist and director of the Metrics and Performance Unit at St. Jude Global as well as Chair of the Latin America Regional Advisory Committee. Paola’s team has developed a library of resources and packages to help clinicians caring for children with cancer in resource variable settings improve their care and measure their efforts. This includes PrOFILE, a dynamic 360-degree evaluation of health-services delivery that helps care teams and institutions define an improvement strategy. Additionally, the St. Jude Global Packages are technically sound practice improvement interventions that are collaboratively designed with global partners with hundreds of hospitals already implementing these packages with great success to reduce morbidity and mortality of children with cancer globally.
On a personal note, Paola has been pivotal in my own personal growth and development. Several of my own research and implementation endeavors are built off the support and mentorship of Paola, including a PrOFILE sibling tool specific for palliative care, and a Global Package to reduce procedural pain. Paola has been a persistent presence and her unwavering support in my own career growth has been immeasurable.
If able, please consider donating to my fundraiser for the St. Jude Half Marathon so that Dr. Friedrich and other amazing researchers can continue their incredible clinical work and research.
