Michael McNeil, Director of the St. Jude Global Palliative Care Program, shared on LinkedIn:
“This week as I train for the St. Jude Half Marathon, I am highlighting another of my colleagues I work with at St. Jude Global.
Catherine Lam is a pediatric oncologist and Director of the St. Jude Global Health Systems Unit and Chair of the Asia Pacific Regional Advisory Committee. Clinically, Dr. Lam focuses on rare solid tumors. Additionally, Dr. Lam is the Director of the World Health Organization Collaborating Center for Childhood Cancer.
To ensure every child, everywhere has access to high quality treatment and care requires thinking beyond just the hospital walls. Dr. Lam and team do remarkable work thinking about the health system of each country and region to ensure that policies and standards ensure that the different collaborators and partners across the system work together to succeed. Health systems are remarkably complex and Dr. Lam and team have been able to understand and address each aspect in order to achieve our ambitious aim to improve survival while reducing suffering for children with cancer all over the world.
If able, please consider donating to my fundraiser for the St. Jude Half Marathon so that Dr. Lam and other amazing researchers can continue their incredible clinical work and research.
