Celebrating Prof. Lorna Awo Renner’s Lifetime Achievement Award – World Child Cancer

World Child Cancer shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Celebrating Prof. Lorna Awo Renner – a clinician, leader, and long-standing advocate for children with cancer.

At SIOP Africa 2026, Prof. Renner, a Patron of World Child Cancer, received a Lifetime Achievement Award, recognising years of dedication to improving childhood cancer care in Ghana and across the continent.

Lorna’s work spans clinical care, leadership, and advocacy. She leads the Paediatric Oncology Unit at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Accra and serves as President of the Childhood Cancer Society of Ghana, sits on the Ghana National Childhood Cancer Steering Committee, and is a Founding Director of Lifeline for Childhood Cancer Ghana. Across each of these roles, she brings a hands-on commitment to improving care for children and supporting families.

Her influence extends beyond Ghana through her work with the International Society for Paediatric Oncology (SIOP), including as Africa Continental President, where she has helped shape progress in childhood cancer care across the region.

At the heart of her work is a clear priority: making sure children have access to the care they need, wherever they are. This focus shapes her work at every level, from national policy to global collaboration.

We’re proud to have Prof. Renner as a Patron and grateful for everything she continues to do.”
