Lorenza Rimassa, Associate Professor of Medical Oncology at Humanitas University, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Today is World Cholangiocarcinoma Day!
World CCA Day is a crucial initiative dedicated to raising awareness about cholangiocarcinoma – a rare and aggressive cancer of the bileducts that is often diagnosed at an advanced stage, due to its subtle early symptoms, leaving patients with limited treatment options.
This day shines a light on the urgent need for earlier detection, better diagnostic tools, and increased research funding.
It also serves as a moment of genuine solidarity for patients, survivors, and the families who walk this difficult journey alongside them.
By bringing together medical professionals, researchers, patient advocates, and the wider public, World CCA Day helps break the silence around this disease and pushes for greater investment toward finding a cure.
Awareness is the first step – because the more people know the signs and risk factors, the greater the chances of diagnosing the disease early, improving prognosis and, ultimately, saving lives.”
