Loizos G. Loizou, Head of Cyprus International Action Plan for Children with Cancer at ELPIDA Foundation for Children with Cancer, shared on LinkedIn:
“My friends,
Learning from every child with cancer: The knowledge that leads to better decisions
Every child with cancer has their own story.
Each incident can provide valuable knowledge that will help other children.
Through nearly four decades of caring for children and adolescents with cancer, I’ve learned that high-level medical care must be accompanied by sound scientific knowledge.
This belief led me to the creation of the Cyprus Childhood Cancer Population Registry (PORCY), the first national cancer registry in children and adolescents, through close collaboration with the Health Monitoring Unit of the Ministry of Health, scientists from Newcastle University in the United Kingdom and the medical team of the Pediatric Oncology-Pediatric Hematology Clinic of the Archbishop Makarios III Hospital.”
