Linny Kimly Phuong, Clinical Director- Women’s and Children’s at Bendigo Health, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“This morning, I joined James Glenday and Emma Rebellato on our Health Check segment to discuss new research published by The Lancet Group demonstrating the long-term impact of school based HPV vaccination on cervical cancer deaths in young women.
Australia has been a global leader in HPV vaccination and cervical screening, and we remain on track to become one of the first countries to eliminate cervical cancer as a public health problem.
At the same time, the work is not finished. Ensuring equitable access to vaccination, screening and culturally safe care remains essential, particularly for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander women, those in rural and remote regions, as well as culturally and linguistically diverse communities.
Grateful to have had the opportunity to discuss this important and hopeful story this morning.
