Lee Graves: Complex Response of TNBC Cells to Novel ClpP Agonists

Lee Graves, Professor at University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“I am pleased to report that my lab just published this important paper.

Led by my student Sabrina, this paper defined the complex response of TNBC cells to novel ClpP agonists provided by Madera Therapeutics, and the synergistic cell death achieved with the addition of venetoclax.

This was a real team effort and involved key collaborations with UNC folks (Aadra Bhatt, Jim Bear, John Morris and the UNC Proteomics Core) and our long-time colleagues at the NCI (Yoshimi Greer, Stan Lipkowitz). Also- a big shout-out to all my undergrads and other collaborators who contributed to this paper! Thanks all- very excited about what we learned in these studies. A further example of the potential promise of ClpP activators for the treatment of cancer.”

Title: Small molecule activators of the mitochondrial protease ClpP induce senescence in triple-negative breast cancer cells and sensitize cells to the Bcl-2 inhibitor venetoclax
