Laurence Buisseret: Proud to Contribute to Collaborative Immuno-Oncology Efforts at ESMO Immuno25

Laurence Buisseret, Director of the Medical Oncology Department at Institut Jules Bordet, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Immunotherapy has transformed the treatment of many cancers over the past decade, delivering impressive and sometimes durable benefits for our patients. Yet, much work remains to expand its use, overcome resistance, and extend these benefits to more patients and tumor types.

A lot of new strategies, sophisticated compounds, rationale combinations to prime the immune response are in development
At ESMO Immuno25, oncologists, pathologists, laboratory scientists, and bioinformaticians from Institut Jules Bordet, BITOX team from the Belgian Society of Medical Oncology were all represented — a true reflection of team science in immuno-oncology.

We were proud to contribute, collectively, to the broader collaborative efforts of the IO community through several presentations and discussions, including:

  • Francesco Sclafani— Discussant for abstracts in anal cancer and oesophagogastric cancer
  • Elisa Agostinetto and Nicolaas Van Renne — Poster and merit award for the multi-omic analyses of the IMMUcan advanced TNBC cohort from the SYNERGY trial and SPECTA.
  • Zoë Denis and Xavier Catteau— Poster on CD73 biomarker expression in samples from the Neo-CheckRay trial in luminal B breast cancer
  • Camille Goudemant — Poster on clinical outcomes from the early-stage TNBC IMMUcan cohort
  • Soraia Lobo-Martins — Poster of the I-SPARC study, evaluating immune responses to COVID vaccination in patients with cancer.
  • Laurence Buisseret — Oral session on ADC and immune checkpoint inhibitor combinations

Meetings like ESMO IO remind us how progress in cancer care relies on collaboration, data sharing, and the integration of clinical and translational research — all with a single goal: improving outcomes for our patients.”
