“ ‘I was influenced by the volunteers’ giving when I was a child with cancer, which made me one of them today, to give back and give hope to the affected children.’
Firas – Brain cancer survivor.
With these words, Firas sums up his journey that began at the age of three with brain cancer. He was unaware of the nature of his illness at the time, but he finished his years of treatment with a full recovery. An experience that marked a turning point in his life, and made him more aware of his health, himself, and the value of life.
Years of follow-up and treatment gradually turned into a memory full of hope and support, as Firas grew up, and with him, the image grew, from a child receiving treatment to a young man who realized that the volunteers who surrounded him with support were his real inspiration, until he decided to be part of this support himself.
Today, Firas is a volunteer at the King Hussein Cancer Center among the children who are living today as he did yesterday, bringing them a message of hope stemming from his own experience: that fear is defeated, support makes a difference, and hope is always the motivation to keep going.”
