Kim Nichols: Presentation on Genetic Predisposition to Childhood Leukemia at PREVENT 2026

Kim Nichols, St. Jude Division of Cancer Predisposition director and Department of Oncology member, shared on LinkedIn:

“Proud lab moment.

Congratulations to Ninad Oak, Principal Bioinformatics Research Scientist in the Division of Cancer Predisposition at St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, who recently presented our latest work at PREVENT 2026 in Madrid.

This workshop was dedicated to understanding genetic predisposition to childhood leukemia and translating that understanding into prevention.

Ninads talk, Cooperation Between Germline Etv6 and Pax5 Haploinsufficiency Drives B-ALL Development Independent of Infection Exposure, tackles a question at the heart of Thrombocytopenia 5, the leukemia predisposition syndrome caused by germline ETV6 mutations: why do only some carriers go on to develop leukemia?

This project reflects a wonderful ongoing collaboration with Isidro Sánchez-García and Carolina Vicente-Dueñass teams in Salamanca.

Grateful to everyone who makes this kind of international, team science possible and especially proud of Ninad for representing our lab so well on the global stage.”
