Jonathan Lim, Associate Faculty at Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute, shared on LinkedIn:
“Last month, we celebrated a year since Samra Turajlić arrived in Manchester as Director of the Cancer Research UK Manchester Institute, with the launch of our first Christie Ignite Lecture.
The idea is simple: bring scientists and clinical colleagues together around big ideas, spark new collaborations, and inspire the next generation – to ask ‘What could we do together?’
We have increasingly powerful tools to explore cancer biology and test hypotheses, and AI opening up more possibilities. Good questions, Team Science and a focus on patients matter more than ever.
Samra’s commitments:
- keep the doors open doors, build shared ambitions,
- back discovery alongside translation,
- and invest in people, including the teams whose contributions often go unseen.
Thank you, Samra, for bringing us together and encouraging us to think bigger.
Excited to be part of this next chapter for Manchester!”
