“Small Community Hospital making big impact.
I am deeply proud and humbled to share that my team at the Northfield Hospital + Clinics worked hard over the last several weeks and got Daraxonrasib before the FDA approval of the drug.
This is incredibly meaningful as our team put every effort for a N of one, while going through a plethora of emails/ trainings and paperwork.
As we went through this process over almost 8 weeks, several times I asked my staff – ‘is it too much work?’ and the answer I got was – ‘No, we want to do it.’
While we don’t have an IRB, we do have an ethics committee, a super committed team and very supportive leadership. All of this, along with efforts from Revolution Medicines and Bionical Emas ultimately cultivated in our small community hospital getting the much coveted drug for the beastly disease – Pancreatic Cancer.
This is truly, a perfect example of, ‘Intentional teams, Exceptional Care’ the American Society of Clinical Oncology (ASCO) Presidential theme for 2026-27, by Dr. Elizabeth Mittendorf.
While I am thrilled writing this post, I am also reminded of the sobering truth of life- that we are all mortal, and must make the most of the time we have here, on this beautiful planet.
