Janna Sisakyan: A Journey of Firsts at GCOS2025

Janna Sisakyan, Assistant Managing Editor at OncoDaily Medical Journal, shared on LinkedIn:

“OncoDaily in South Africa!

The last six days have been some of the most surreal of my life.

I travelled all the way to Cape Town to attend GCOS2025, organized by the International Cardio-Oncology Society and the Cardio-Oncology Society of Southern Africa (COSOSA) .

This trip was full of firsts – my first time in Africa, first time seeing the ocean, and my first international conference outside Armenia.

It was also a historic moment for the field: for the first time ever, GCOS was held in Africa – fittingly in Cape Town, the city where the world’s first human heart transplant took place in 1967.

Being part of this year’s GCOS, meeting global opinion leaders, and witnessing the unity and energy of the cardio-oncology community has been truly inspiring. It opened my eyes to the immense potential and collaboration shaping the future of this field.

Feeling incredibly grateful for this experience, especially to OncoDaily for giving me the opportunity to be part of something so special.

P.S. The nature in Cape Town made the whole thing even more mesmerizing.”
