Italiano Antoine: New Educational Podcast Series on Precision Medicine in Oncology

Italiano Antoine, Professor of Medicine, Head of Early Phase Trials Unit at Institut Bergonié and Head of Precision Medicine at Gustave Roussy, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“New educational podcast series — Precision medicine in oncology

I am very pleased to share the first episode of a new educational podcast series dedicated to key challenges in precision medicine in oncology.

In this episode, we discuss a very practical clinical situation: the detection of a BRCA1 alteration in plasma.

At first glance, such a finding may suggest a potentially actionable tumor alteration. However, interpretation is not always straightforward: does this alteration truly originate from the tumor? Could it come from the blood compartment? Should we consider clonal hematopoiesis, a germline origin, or a genuine tumor-derived signal?

These questions are critical, because in precision medicine, the value of a biomarker does not rely only on its detection, but also on its accurate interpretation in the clinical and biological context of each patient.

This series of podcast has an educational purpose: to help better understand the pitfalls, limitations, and best practices surrounding the use of NGS reports in oncology.

Listen to the episode.

Many thanks to everyone who contributed to making this educational initiative possible. Your feedback will be very valuable as we build the next episodes.”
