Ian Wee Jun Yan: Improving Colorectal Cancer Screening Uptake to Reduce the Global Cancer Burden

Ian Wee Jun Yan, Assistant Professor at Duke-NUS Medical School, shared a post on LinkedIn:

Colorectal cancer (CRC) remains one of the most common cancers worldwide, yet many cases are preventable through timely screening and early detection.

Pleased to share our narrative review on CRC screening, where we examine current screening modalities, barriers to uptake, strategies to improve participation, and emerging developments in the field. We also highlighted the importance of behavioural, sociocultural, and health system factors that ultimately determine whether screening programmes succeed.

As healthcare systems continue to grapple with rising cancer burden and ageing populations, improving screening uptake may be just as important as developing better screening technologies.

Grateful to my co-authors for the opportunity to contribute to this work.”
