Hadly Clark, director at the Milken Institute’s FasterCures, shared on Linkedin:
“11 months ago, I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Last week, my care team told me I’m cancer-free.
I don’t have the perfect words or the right photo to share for what that feels like to finally say, but I feel compelled to share.
This year included what felt like countless tests, scans, biopsies, surgeries, medication, appointments, and a lot of moments I didn’t post about (the hard ones, the scary ones, the ones where I just needed to get through the day). Having breast cancer at a younger age made it feel especially disorienting; this wasn’t supposed to happen yet.
I’m sharing this not for the applause, but because I know someone reading this is in the middle of their own version of this fight, newly diagnosed, mid-treatment, or scared about a scan. If that’s you, it’s okay to not be okay some days. Keep going anyway!
To my care team, my family, my friends, and the colleagues who gave me grace when I needed it most, thank you. You carried me through this more than you know.
I’m ready for the next chapter, beyond cancer.”
