Giannis Mountzios: Discussion on New Therapeutic Developments in Small Cell Lung Cancer at ESMO 2026

Giannis Mountzios, Director of 4th Oncology Department and Clinical Trials Unit at HENRY DUNANT Hospital Center, shared on LinkedIn:

“Another ESMO – European Society for Medical Oncology was concluded today in Madrid with very significant developments in the field of cancer therapeutics.

Four days filled with scientific news, announcements of scientific studies that are set to change our clinical practice starting tomorrow, interactive discussions, and networking for new clinical trials that will bring innovative medicines closer to our patients who need them so much.

At this congress, I had the great honor and pleasure of participating through multiple activities, the most significant of which was my participation in the symposium of the International Lung Cancer Summit which this year focused on new therapeutic developments in small cell lung cancer.

Together with leading colleagues Peters Solange, Martin Reck and Noemi Reguart, we discussed about drugs that dramatically improve the survival of our small lung cancer patients, and I analyzed the management of side effects from novel therapeutic compounds such as T-cell engagers and antibody-drug conjugates.

Knowledge is power, and only through experience and the rational use of new drugs can we truly change our patients’ prognosis and offer hope, even in the most advanced stages of the disease․”
