Fabio Ynoe de Moraes, Radiation Oncologist and Associate Professor at Queen’s University, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“The oncology workforce is reaching a breaking point.
As cancer incidence rises, the number of oncologists is not keeping pace.
- 1 in 4 oncologists is already over 64 years old.
- We’re on track to meet only 29% of the global demand for specialists in the next 12 years.
The gap will widen — unless we rethink how we deliver cancer care.
Artificial Intelligence will not replace oncologists — but it will augment us, redefining efficiency, decision support, and global access to expertise.
The question is: Are you ready?”
