“ESO and Campus Bio-Medico University of Rome have launched a new Master in Sarcoma. Its opening course brought 27 doctors from 20 countries to Rome to learn from an international faculty led by Sylvie Bonvalot and Bruno Vincenzi. Participants came from across Europe, as well as Brazil and Mexico.
Sarcomas are rare and diverse cancers. Diagnosing and treating them often requires the combined expertise of medical oncologists, surgeons, radiation oncologists, radiologists and pathologists. The 15-month programme brings together specialist teaching and clinical experience at a sarcoma centre, with online modules, in-person seminars, a clinical placement and a final thesis.
Faculty members from centres including Institut Curie, Gustave Roussy, the National Cancer Institute of Milan and the Netherlands Cancer Institute explored the complex decisions involved in sarcoma care.
From its opening course, the Master has brought together professionals working in different healthcare settings to learn from one another and from leading sarcoma specialists.
