Ethiopian Society of Hematology and Oncology (ESHO) shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Day 1 began with an inspiring opening speech by ESHO President Dr. Munir Awol, setting the tone for a conference centered on collaboration, innovation, and patient-centered cancer care.
This was followed by Commissioner Lelise Duga’s powerful presentation on her cancer journey, reminding everyone of the human experience behind every diagnosis.
A high-level panel discussion brought together leaders from across Ethiopia’s health sector, including Dr. Kunuz Abdella (Ministry of Health), Dr. Abdiku Gelgelo (MD, MSc) (EPSS), Seyoum Wolde (EFDA), Dr. Hora Sediso Tashite (Oromia Regional Health Bureau and cancer survivor), and Commissioner Lelise Duga (Oromia Tourism Commission and cancer survivor). Together, they explored how stronger collaboration can improve cancer prevention, access to medicines, regulation, and patient-centered care across the country.
Dr. Hora Sediso Tashite later shared his personal and professional reflections, followed by a tea break and networking session that continued the spirit of exchange and connection.
The morning then moved into further scientific discussions and presentations, carrying forward the momentum of a powerful start.
Take a look back at the opening morning of ESHO 2026.”
