Emad Shash: Celebrating Pink October Differently This Year

Emad Shash, Leading Cancer Researcher and Director at National Cancer Institute, shared on LinkedIn:

“Pink October, celebrated differently this time!

Last Sunday, October 11th, I had the pleasure of joining my wonderful friends at Roche Egypt for a truly special and unconventional Breast Cancer Awareness Month conversation.

It was not just another scientific talk or awareness session. It was an engaging, heartfelt, and sometimes challenging conversation that went beyond the white coat, beyond medical terminology, and straight to what really matters: people, families, and the women whose lives we hope to change.

From personal stories and thought-provoking questions to challenging myths, listening to patients’ voices, and discussing the fears and barriers surrounding breast cancer screening, every moment reminded me that awareness is not simply about delivering information. It is about inspiring people to take action.

What made this experience particularly memorable was the atmosphere. I genuinely felt that I was among family and friends, surrounded by warmth, positive energy, and a shared commitment to making a difference.

My heartfelt thanks to Nihal Nabil, Mohamed Ossama, Kareem Hussein, and Ahmed Magdi, and to all my wonderful Roche brothers, sisters, and friends for the exceptional hospitality, thoughtful preparation, and beautiful spirit throughout the gathering.

You made this Pink October celebration both meaningful and unforgettable!

My biggest takeaway?

Pink October should never be just about wearing pink. It should be about breaking barriers, challenging misconceptions, encouraging early detection, and turning awareness into action.

Because sometimes, one meaningful conversation can inspire someone to take that first important step.”
