Emad Shash, Leading Cancer Researcher and Director at National Cancer Institute, shared on LinkedIn:
“Starting ESMO 2026 the way I love most: with a morning run!
There is something special about starting the day with a run, especially when an exciting few days lie ahead.
This morning, as I ran through Madrid, I enjoyed those quiet moments to clear my mind, recharge my energy, and reflect on what makes gatherings like ESMO so meaningful.
For me, running and oncology share an important philosophy: Progress requires consistency, resilience, determination, and the willingness to keep pushing boundaries.
As we gather to exchange science, challenge established practices, reconnect with colleagues, and explore innovations shaping the future of cancer care, I am reminded that taking care of ourselves is also part of our commitment to caring for others.
Looking forward to inspiring science, meaningful conversations, new collaborations, and, above all, ideas that translate into better outcomes for our patients.
A few kilometers in the legs, fresh energy in the mind, and plenty of inspiration ahead. Ready for ESMO 2026.”
