Emad Shash, Leading Cancer Researcher and Director at the National Cancer Institute, Cairo University, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Last Wednesday we had the CancerWISE – CJC AFRICA Cervical Cancer Virtual Tumor Board on the multidisciplinary management of locally advanced cervical cancer – and I’m truly grateful for how it turned out.
We had 107 participants from across Africa, engaging actively in the case discussion and, QandA. It was a great reminder of how much we can achieve when we learn together across borders and specialties.
My sincere thanks to our fantastic pan-African faculty and MDT panel for their time, insights, and commitment to improving cervical cancer care:
- Basel Refky – Surgical Oncology, Mansoura University, Egypt
- Chinenye Iwuji – Medical Oncology, Lakeshore Cancer Center, Lagos, Nigeria
- Khadija Warfa – Gynecologic Oncology, Aga Khan University Hospital, Nairobi, Kenya
- Nwamaka Lasebikan – Clinical Oncology, University of Nigeria Teaching Hospital, Enugu, Nigeria
- Munir Awol – Clinical Oncology, Black Lion Hospital, Addis Ababa, Ethiopia
And a big thank you to Loay Kassem, Sherin Shafik, the CancerWISE / CAIRO Journal Club Club team, and Dynamic Events for the flawless organization and technical support.
Looking forward to more joint tumor boards and collaborations to strengthen cervical cancer care across our continent and ensure more women receive timely, high-quality, multidisciplinary management.”
