European Parliament Health Committee Calls for Stronger Action on Cancer Care – ECO

European Cancer Organisation (ECO) shared on LinkedIn:

“Yesterday, the European Parliament’s Health Committee adopted a report reaffirming the importance of Europe’s Beating Cancer Plan as a central mechanism for countries to improve cancer care and prevention.

ECO welcomes the Committee’s calls for:

  • Dedicated, secure EU funding for cancer, including at least €2.5 billion in the EU’s next long-term budget
  • Stronger coordination of European cancer policy, including through a European Cancer Institute-type mechanism
  • Continued action to ensure that where someone lives does not determine the cancer care and treatment they can access.

We congratulate MEPs from all parties on the strong consensus that Europe’s progress against cancer must continue. We look forward to the report progressing to a vote of the full European Parliament.
