How Europe Can Effectively Integrate Patient-Reported Outcome Measures Into Clinical Workflows – ECO

European Cancer Organisation (ECO) shared a post on LinkedIn:

Patient-Reported Outcome Measures (PROMs) should not simply be collected. They need to inform better care, research and decisions.

More than 150 participants joined our latest roundtable to explore how Europe can use this valuable tool more effectively. Some key takeaways:

  • PROMs are clinical data, providing vital evidence on symptoms, treatment tolerability and quality of life alongside traditional clinical outcomes
  •  Successful implementation requires integration into routine workflows and electronic health records
  •  Patients must be partners throughout, from design and implementation to interpreting and using the results
  •  Patients should feel that the PROM is not too long or burdensome and that the resulting data are improving their care
