Doug Graham: Gene Therapy is Rewriting the Future for Children with Chronic Hematologic Conditions

Doug Graham, Division Chief of Pediatric Hem/Onc/BMT at Emory University and Director at Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center, shared a post on LinkedIn:

“Thrilled to share a powerful story from the AJC about Josh Dri, a Georgia teen who recently became the first patient in our state to receive a gene therapy transplant for beta thalassemia.

Thanks to the extraordinary team at the Aflac Cancer and Blood Disorders Center of Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Josh is now living free from the burden of regular blood transfusions and a demanding medication regimen. This treatment has given him a fresh start, and it is rewriting the future of care for children with chronic hematologic conditions.

Deep gratitude to Dr. Jeanne Boudreaux and the entire care team who made this possible.”
