Darien Laird, Executive Director at Global Coalition for Radiotherapy, shared a post on LinkedIn:
“Any time I have the privilege of speaking about radiotherapy, and especially representing the Global Coalition for Radiotherapy alongside such remarkable women, I am deeply grateful.
When we first began discussing this panel for The Economist Impact event, the ever-innovative Mary Gospodarowicz challenged us to focus on action, not just ideas.
Over the past six months, contributors from across the GCR, representing regions around the world and dozens of professional societies, have collaborated on an important new initiative designed to help organizations and countries establish modern radiotherapy programs or strengthen existing ones. This work represents a significant step toward improving access to high-quality cancer care globally.
What has made this project particularly meaningful is its collaborative nature.
We have brought together industry partners, professional societies, advocates from across the cancer continuum, and healthcare leaders to contribute their expertise and perspectives. We know that meaningful progress happens when diverse stakeholders work together, and we are excited to move into the next phases of publication and dissemination.
In the meantime, it was an honor to join a panel of leaders who are each driving change within their own spheres of influence. My sincere thanks to my fellow panelists, as well as our sponsors and supporters, whose commitment makes it possible to ensure radiotherapy remains part of these important global conversations.”
