“Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai researchers discovered that pancreatic cancer cells use two specific proteins to build ‘safe zones’ around themselves, recruiting immune cells that shield the tumor and keep cancer-fighting cells out.
Blocking these proteins in mice made the tumors more vulnerable to immunotherapy, pointing to a potential new strategy for treating this hard-to-treat cancer.”
