“Day Two of the World Cancer Congress 2026 was packed with important discussions on precision oncology, early detection of lung cancer, cancer care in humanitarian settings, universal health coverage, tackling misinformation, and advancing more equitable cancer care.
During the sessions, Elizabeth Mittendorf, President of the American Society of Clinical Oncology, highlighted technological advancements in precision oncology that are driving hope for better outcomes.
We also had the opportunity to attend the premiere of Conquering Breast Cancer, presented by UICC, which brought another important dimension to the conversations around cancer awareness and care.
The premiere was chaired by H.E. Dr. Zainab Shinkafi-Bagudu, President-elect of the Union for International Cancer Control, UICC, whose leadership and commitment to advancing cancer control continue to inspire.
Away from the main hall, the Global Village continues to be a vibrant hub for networking, storytelling, and showcasing the impactful work of UII members and partners. Alongside the Nigerian contingent, we are actively exchanging ideas, sharing experiences.
And sparking new collaborations, all with the shared goal of reducing the burden of cancer.
