“Do we need to add chemotherapy to immunotherapy for patients with PD-L1–high (>50%) advanced NSCLC?
Out now in JAMA Oncology, our systematic review and meta-analysis evaluated 24 phase 3 randomized clinical trials including 5,546 patients with PD-L1–high NSCLC.
Using complementary analytic approaches, including meta-regression, network meta-analysis, and reconstructed individual patient data analysis, chemoimmunotherapy was consistently associated with improved overall survival and progression-free survival compared with PD-(L)1 inhibitor monotherapy.
These findings support considering first-line chemoimmunotherapy for selected patients with PD-L1–high NSCLC, particularly those who are fit for chemotherapy and may benefit from a more intensive upfront approach.”
