“Back from the World Cancer Congress 2026 in Hong Kong, convened by Union for International Cancer Control (UICC), with renewed energy, new perspectives and a deep sense of purpose.
I was honored to present The Max Foundation’s work in India on addressing the social determinants of health and strengthening continuity of cancer care.
One message from our experience stands out:
‘Medicine may start the journey, but support helps patients stay the course.’
For many people living with cancer, access to treatment is only the beginning.
The barriers they face beyond the clinic – social, emotional, financial and practical – can profoundly influence their ability to continue care. Addressing these realities is an essential part of building truly patient-centred cancer care.
It was also wonderful to connect with Pat Garcia-Gonzalez, Andrielle Yost, Alicia Annamalay, Mei Ching Ong, Cathy Scheepers, with Dr. Narayanankutty Warrier and partners from across the global cancer community who are working towards a shared goal: better outcomes and better lives for people living with cancer.
I return from Hong Kong with meaningful connections, fresh ideas and renewed conviction that no patient should have to navigate cancer alone.
The work continues – and so does the journey, together.”
