“I’m profoundly grateful to Christopher J Wein for his 7 years of board leadership at the Canadian Cancer Society, as a director on our board and more recently our Chair. Christopher has helped move CCS through key moments of change and challenge, bringing clarity to complex decisions, and keeping our mission at the center of every conversation. He shows up for our staff, donors, volunteers and communities with purpose and heart, and his influence can be felt in the progress we’ve made and the direction we’ve set for the future.
To honour his legacy, we are establishing the Christopher J. Wein Research Trainee Award, a decade‑long investment in the next generation of cancer researchers. This reflects his belief in research, talent and building a stronger future for cancer discovery.
Christopher, THANK YOU for your leadership and the impact you’ve had on CCS and the cancer cause. Your contributions will continue to shape CCS for years to come!
I also want to recognize outgoing directors Chan Hon Goh, C.M., D.Litt. and Dr Chen Fong whose leadership has left a profound impact on CCS. Chan Hon Goh elevated our understanding of care by centering emotional well‑being, connection and the role of the arts in supporting people through cancer. Dr Fong expanded how we think about accelerating research and innovation, including new directions to support commercialization and establish CDL Cancer – helping science breakthroughs reach patients sooner. Their insight and commitment have strengthened our mission and the communities we serve.
