Alisher Kahharov, Head of the Breast Cancer Surgery Department at the Republican Specialized Scientific-Practical Medical Center of Oncology and Radiology, Ministry of Health of Uzbekistan, shared on Facebook:
“I am delighted to share an exciting milestone at the Republican Specialized scientific practical medical center of Oncology and Radiology with the recent visit from renowned professors of the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute/Harvard Medical School, a comprehensive cancer center.
It is a world-renowned institution focused on cancer treatment and research. This visit not only bridged our institutions but also resulted in the signing of a crucial memorandum of understanding, paving the way for promising collaboration in the fight against cancer.
Professor Timothy Rebbeck captivated our audience with an insightful lecture on the critical aspects of cancer risk factors, effective screening protocols, early detection strategies, and preventive measures. His expertise provided invaluable guidance to enhance our cancer prevention efforts.
Professor Jill Stopfer brought her profound knowledge to the forefront by discussing the essential role of genetic counseling. Her presentation highlighted how understanding genetic predispositions can aid both healthy individuals and those already battling cancer, guiding them towards informed decisions about their health.
Alisher Kahharov also added:
Adding to this wealth of information, Professor David Read delivered an inspirational talk on the organizational dynamics of an oncology center. He delved into the intricacies of medical architecture, process optimization, and the development of structural subdivisions, providing a blueprint for creating efficient healthcare environments.
I was also truly honored to welcome Professor Leslie Lehmann, a leading authority in stem cell transplantation and pediatric oncology and hematology. As the Director of the Clinical Stem Cell Transplantation Program and Medical Director of the International Hematology/Oncology/BMT Program, Professor Lehmann has an impressive track record of mentorship and pioneering work.
Throughout her distinguished career, she has mentored countless pediatric oncologists and hematologists worldwide, including at Egypt’s renowned 57357 Children’s Cancer Hospital Foundation Center. Her dedication to advancing transplantation techniques and her passion for international collaboration make her an invaluable asset to the global oncology community.
During her visit, Professor Lehmann shared inspiring stories of her mentorship experience that continue to shape the future of pediatric oncology and hematology.
The visit unveiled myriad opportunities for future collaborations, each promising to enrich our research and patient care. Our heartfelt gratitude goes to Dr. Nilufar Qahorova for orchestrating this visit and bringing together such luminary figures in oncology. This interaction was not only a refreshing breath of inspiration but also a catalyst for renewed vigor and ambitious advancement in our ongoing battle against cancer.”
